Antivirus Whitelisting Guide

GPT-Shield uses advanced behavioral monitoring to detect when you are typing in an AI chat window. Because this behavior (monitoring active windows and keystrokes) is similar to how "spyware" works, Antivirus heuristics often flag it, even though it is safe and signed with an EV Certificate. To function, we need permission to "hook" into your browser inputs.

   Open Windows Security from your Start menu or system tray

   Click on 'Virus & threat protection'

   Under 'Virus & threat protection settings', click 'Manage settings'

   Scroll down to 'Exclusions' and click 'Add or remove exclusions'

   Click 'Add an exclusion' and select 'Folder'

   Navigate to your GPT-Shield installation folder (typically C:\Program Files\GPT-Shield)

   Select the folder and click 'Select Folder' to add the exclusion

   Open Norton 360

   Click on 'Settings' > 'Antivirus' > 'Scans and Risks'.

   Section 1: Under 'Exclusions / Low Risks', click 'Configure' next to 'Items to Exclude from Scans'. Add your GPT-Shield folder.

   Section 2 (CRITICAL): Under the same menu, click 'Configure' next to 'Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence'.

   Add the GPT-Shield folder here as well.

   This ensures Norton's behavioral AI (SONAR) does not block the agent's window detection features.

   Open McAfee Total Protection

   Click on 'PC Security' or 'My Protection'

   Click on 'Real-Time Scanning'

   Click 'Excluded Files' under 'Scan Options'

   Click 'Add File' or 'Add Folder'

   Navigate to your GPT-Shield installation directory

   Select the GPT-Shield folder and click 'Add'

   Open Avast or AVG Antivirus

   Go to 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'Exceptions'.

   Click 'Add Exception' and browse to your GPT-Shield installation folder.

   Ensure the exception applies to all shields.

   If issues persist: Go to 'Protection' > 'Behavior Shield'.

   Add 'GPT-Shield-Host.exe' to the allowed list to prevent behavioral blocking.

   Open Bitdefender and click on 'Protection' in the left sidebar.

   Step 1: Click 'Antivirus' > 'Settings' > 'Manage Exceptions'.

   Click 'Add an Exception', browse to your GPT-Shield folder, ensure 'Antivirus' is ON, and click 'Add'.

   Step 2 (CRITICAL): Go back to Protection and click 'Advanced Threat Defense' > 'Settings' > 'Manage Exceptions'.

   Click 'Add an Exception' and browse to the SAME GPT-Shield folder.

   Ensure the 'Advanced Threat Defense' (or 'Online Threat Prevention') toggle is ON.

   Click 'Add' to save. This solves the 'Persistent Block' error.

   Open Kaspersky Security Cloud or Internet Security

   Click on the 'Settings' gear icon at the bottom

   Go to 'Additional' > 'Threats and Exclusions'

   Click on 'Manage Exclusions' in the Exclusions section

   Click 'Add'

   Select 'Browse' and navigate to your GPT-Shield folder

   Click 'Add' to create the exclusion

   Note: If relevant, also check 'Trusted Applications' and ensure GPT-Shield is listed as Trusted.

   Click on 'Settings' (gear icon) in the bottom left

   Click on 'Security' in the left sidebar

   Scroll down to 'Exclusions' section

   Click 'Add Exclusion' under 'Exclude a File or Folder'

   Open Trend Micro from your system tray

   Click on the gear icon to access 'Settings'

   Navigate to 'Exception Lists'

   Under 'Program/Folder', click 'Add'

   Browse to your GPT-Shield installation directory

   Select the folder containing GPT-Shield files

   Click 'OK' to add the exception

Open Your Antivirus

Locate and open your antivirus software from the system tray (bottom-right corner of Windows) or Start menu.

Find Settings

Look for a Settings, Options, or Preferences menu, typically represented by a gear icon or in the main menu.

Locate Exclusions

Search for terms like 'Exclusions', 'Exceptions', 'Whitelist', 'Allowed Items', or 'Scan Exceptions' in the settings.

Add GPT-Shield Folder

Add the entire GPT-Shield installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\GPT-Shield) to the exclusions list.

Save & Restart

Save your changes and restart GPT-Shield. The application should now run without interference.
